THE DETROIT JEWISH NEWS AT THE CENTER BY JEFFREY GUYER Staff writer At a time when many people are pre-occupied with thoughts of be'ches, vacations and summer camps, the Jewish Community Cen- ter makes things easy by combining all three for the entire family. Toddlers, under the direction of Barbara Cantor, have a program of their own at the Center's main branch. Youngsters enrolled in the JCC parent-toddler program learn at an early age about having fun with other children. The looks on their faces as they parade around the room, laughing and singing, are as good a barometer as any of the suc- cess of this program. The Center day camp, mean- while, will attract about 1,300 chil- dren, ages 3-15 this summer. This figure shows no real change from previous years. The diversity of programs which the camp has to offer, says Marsha Fishman, day camp director, is one reason for the program's continued popularity. The JCC is again offering a wide range of specialty camps for children looking for specific summer-time ac- tivity. Programs include travel camps, tennis and gymnastics camps, performing arts camps and dance classes. A new addition to this year's spe- cialty list is 'designed for young corn- puter users.
