AVADENK A
FOR JUDGE

48th District Court

Paid for by the committee to elect Edward Avadenka, 48th District Judge.
Bloomfield Hills, Michigan 48013

"To penalize organiza-
tions and governments be-
cause they educate indi-
viduals about reproductive
options and provide choices,
ignores the fundamental
rights of women to control
their reproductive life and
violates democratic proce-
dure," the NCJW said in a
letter sent to the President

earlier this month.
"The regulation proposed
is stricter than any that
could legally be imposed in
the United States and it is
inappropriate to dictate re-
quirements to other gov-
ernments and international
agencies which are them-
selves prohibited within the
U.S., the organization said.

NCJW position
on measures

New. York — The Na-
tional Council of Jewish
Women (NCJW) expressed
support for one measure and
opposition to two others
currently before Congress
in-statements issued last
month at the annual meet-
ing of the group's board of
directors.
The NCJW urged passage
of the Civil Rights Act of
1984 but asked the Con-
gress to turn back bills that
would implement a sub-
minimum wage for persons
under the age of 20 and
make it illegal for public
schools to prohibit religious
activities during non-
instructional hours.

New program
at Hebrew U.

Jerusalem — A new
graduate study program
leading to a master's degree
in management of applied
chemistry will be offered
next fall at the Hebrew
University of Jerusalem.
The purpose of the pro-
gram is to train specialists
in technology management
who will be qualified to
carry out techno-economic
research and to fill man-
agement positiong in the
chemical industry and in
research and financial in-
stitutions.
The program was de-
veloped because of the grow-
ing demand by industry for
people knowledgeable in
science, technology and
economics.
