It has been a continuing struggle
for the Mironovs, but not without re-
wards. They managed to move from
Detroit several years ago and Vla-
dimir is working on their home's rec-
reation room "studio". with a mir-
rored wall, carpet remnants on the
floor, stereo console for music and ad-
jacent hand-built shower and lavat-
ory.
Zina's father, Boris Levitas,
gained American citizenship this
year. Zina's mother lives with Alex,
now 29, in Los Angeles, because of a
medical condition but the family
enjoys frequent reunions. Zina's sis-
ter, Rose Litvakova, helps Zina train
her athletes.
And, of course, there is the pro-
fessional recognition. In 1983, Zina
was named Coach of the Year by the
