Slatkin joined the Center board in 1974 and has been a member of the executive committee since 1976. He served as chairman of the Center's membership com- mittee and as the coor- dinator to the Center board for the Jimmy Prentis Mor- ris Branch, and in 1983 served as Center represen- tative to the Maple/Drake campus committee. On the executive commit- tee, he has served as member-at-large, secre- tary, treasurer and vice president. Slatkin is the Center representative to the Ten Mile Road campus comittee of the United Jewish Charities, and is also chairman of the UJC prop- erties management com- mittee. He also is a member of the board of governors of Robert Slatkin Dr. Robert Booth. the Jewish Welfare Federa- tion. Elected with Slatkin were: Charles G. Stone, chairman of the executive committee; Sidney Freed- land, first vice president; Donald Fox, Richard Mad- din and Linda Lee, vice preisdents; Robert Citrin, secretary; Howard Tapper, treasurer; and Judy Grant Granader, Jerome Ash, Philip Minkin, members- at-large;, and Lawrence Jackier, of counsel. The Jimmy Prentis Mor- ris Branch of the Center, meanwhile, will have a lec- ture sponsored by the senior adult department and Sinai Hospital at 1 p.m. Tuesday in the Morris Branch as- sembly hall: Dr. Frederick Levine, chairman of cardiovascular and thoracic surgery at Sinai, will speak on "Keep- ing Your Heart Healthy ,— What Surgery Can Do and What You Can Do." The day will be highlighted by clowns games, food, prizes, BBYO honors David Bittker The Michigan BBYO Board recently honored David Bittker with the pre-. seritation of the Charles and Florence Milan BYO Board Mitzvah Award "in recogni- tion of his outstanding ef- forts on behalf of the over 1,200 members of the B'nai B'rith Youth Organization in Michigan Region." Bittker served the board this past year as a member of the Milan Conference Centre Committee and has been instrumental in over- seeing the center's renova- tion and expansion. He has been a member of the Michigan BBYO Board since 1981 and also serves as a member of both the Dis- trict 6 B'nai B'rith Board of Governors and the Interna- tional Board of Governors. He is both a past president of the Metropolitan Detroit B'nai B'rith Council and District 6 B'nai B'rith. The Charles and Florence Milan BBYO Board Mitzvah Award was estab- lished to honor the Milans "for their ongoing concern and commmitment to the Jewish education and lead- ership training of B'nai B'rith Youth."
