According to Arens, there was a link between that ac- tion and Israel's air and naval bombardment of Anarib Island off the north- ern Lebanese port of Tripoli last week. The defense minister briefed the com- mittee on the interrogation of the four ferry passengers still detained in Israel. Navy commander Zeev Almos has said that ter- rorists are again preparing sea-borne raids on Israel and have more sophisti- cated equipment at their disposal than in the past. He contended that interception of a vessel on the high seas was allowable under inter- national law on grounds of self-defense. He claimed that Libya, and Syria pose the greatest dangers to Is- rael from the sea because both have sophisticated navies. Meanwhile, Israeli offi- cials have emphatically de- nied media reports abroad that one of the detainees is the notorious international terrorist known as Carlos, believed to have master- minded the massacre of the Israeli team at the 1972 Olympic Games in Munich. Daniel Moynihan (D-N.Y.)„ and Julius Berman, president of the Union of Orthodox Jewish Congrega- tions of America have an- nounced that for the first time in the history of Demo- cratic Presidential Conven- tions, kosher food will be available to meet the diet- ary needs of the Jewish delegates and guests attending the convention in San Francisco July 16-19. "Kosher food is not a con- venience, but a matter of religIbus conviction," Moynihan said. "We in the Democratic Party believe in reaching out and meeting the needs of all segments of society."
