The roofing debris had been left by contractors re- pairing the yeshivah build- ing. The damage to the interior of the building oc- curred after the heat from the blaze broke the adjacent windows. Rabbi Nachman Kahn, yeshivah executive vice president, told The Jewish News that insurance inves- tigators were inspecting the yeshivah's roof and interior. Fire officials estimated the damage at $5,000-$10,000. The yeshivah has insur- ance, Rabbi Kahn said, but he did not know if the dam- age would be fully covered. Most of the interior damage was due to water and smoke. There are approximately 300 students who attend classes in the Southfield building: Rabbi Kahn said the summer classes cur- rently in session are half- day classes, and students from the affected rooms have been moved to other classrooms.
