ITS A NEW IDEA con-
ceived, by Arthur Klein .. .
that's why he doesn't re-
strict the name . . . and calls
it Glass Factory Etc. Etc... .
Southfield Plaza and 12 1/2
Mile.
Everyday is sale day .. .
seven days a week . . . up to
50 percent off and more.
If you'll pardon the ex-
pression, Glass Factory Etc.
Etc. isn't all its name is
cracked up to be . . . Sure
there's plenty of glassware,
7,000 glasses of every shape
and form . . . but Arthur's
place is more like a mis-
hmash as people rove the
neat aisles . . . He has at
least 300 various kinds of
gifts . . . 150 different
dinnerware sets . . . variety
of stainless steel flatware
pieces . . . etc., etc.
Even woks, fish poachers,
vases, marble cheese trays,
marble rolling pins, cutting
boards, cheese slicers, stain-
less trays, ice buckets, fruit
bowls, place mats — cloth
and straw — -pot holders,
dinner napkins, kitchen
mits, ice tongs, etc., etc.
This is from a guy who
came to Detroit back in
1945 from New York .. .
and in 1946 opened
Claudette Chocolates on
Dexter and Burlingame,
and Dexter and Tyler .. .
Five years later, he merged
with Barton Chocolates and
converted nine candy stores
into Barton's.
In 1955, Arthur went into
the discount drugs business
. . . at the old Kern's Build-
ing downt8wn . . . When he
sold out, there were seven
AAA Discount Drugs . . . In
1978, he opened Stereo City
on Woodward and Grand.
River . . . and built it into
four stores.
Last month, Arthur
Klein, noted as one of the
best merchandisers in town
. . . and consid,Ored by so
many as a "spoh.of a guy"
. . . took on another chal-
lenge ... His Glass Factory
Etc. Etc. at Southfield Plaza
is no doubt the beginning of
another giant in Art's busi-
ness success chain. ,
CONGRATS . .. to
Bluma and Leonard Siegal
. . . on their 19th anniver-
sary.
BARRY KLEIN is at-
tempting to organize an in-
•formal Jewish alumni
group of Oakland Univer-
sity . . . primarily for pur-
pose of assisting and giving
support' to Jewish Students
Organization which now
exists on OU at
.. .
Contact Barry at 353-7878.
CONGRATS ... to
David Black . on his 25th
birthday. F-
THREE YEARS AGO,
Ida and Harold Sher moved
to Pine Island Ridge in Fort
Lauderdale ... Past April,
Ida had major surgery .. .
and received 130 cardE•from
folks at their new residence
. . . Big reason for -party
given by the Shers was to
give thanks for the charita-
ble contributions and con-
cern.

CONGRATS ... to Jen-
nifer Nichol Feinberg . . . on
her first birthday.
LAST CALL goes out for
Super 50th Reunion of Cen-
tral and Northern grads...

day dinner-dance, and Sun-
day brunch . . . Saturday is
the big night . . . Call Gen-
eral Chairman Izzy Malin,

GET WELL WISHES
... to Goldie Wrotslaysky,
secretary at Council of Or-
thodox Rabbis . . . re-
cuperating at home after
by-pass surgery . . . with
thanks to so many for their
answered prayers.

'11„your column in The
JewiSh News of Friday,
June 15, Hy Lewis recalls
Mr. Gunn, school principal
of Garfield School which I
attended. I can also attest.to
,little rubber hose used to
admonish some of the kids.
Also remember vividly
Cream of Michigan restau-
rant and The Sweet Shop at
12th and Lee Place. I must
also tell you, I am very
enthusiastic reader of your
column and The Jewish
News and thoroughly enjoy
reference of the past nostal-
gia.'.
