Shaarey Zedek. Lisa is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Philip Friedman of Southfield, Jack Schechter of Oak Park, and the late Lillian Schech- ter. Lisa will be called to the Torah, not only for herself, but for Lubov Fridman, of Gorky, Russia,* who has been denied the opportunity to practice her religion. Lubov is the daughter of Victor and Ada Fridman. Fridman is a mechanical engineer, who was refused permission to leave Russia in 1979 because of "insuffi- cient" kinship. The Fried- mans have tried to make contact with the Fridman family, but the Russian government will not allow any letters to reach them. Besides her parents, Li- sa's brother, Scott, will take part in the service. Other participants are Lisa's grandfathers, Schechter and Friedman, along with her uncle Gary Friedman of Los Angeles, Calif. Lisa attends the Warner Middle School in Far- mington Hills as well as Shaarey Zedek Religious School. Lisa is the first girl in either the Friedman or Schechter families to be- come bat mitzvah. Song, dance program set The Ensemble of Interna- tional Songs and Dances will present a program, "From Russia with Song and Dance," at 8 p.m. Sun- day at the main United He- brew Schools Building. The program also will in- clude Yiddish songs. Spon- sor of the program is Jewish War Veterans Who Fought in World • War II in the USSR.
