Samuel Hechtman at dinner
In celebration,of the 30th
anniversary of Bar-Han
University, the Detroit
Friends of Bar-Ilan will
honor Samuel Hechtman at
their annual dinner to be
held Sept. 18 at Cong.
Shaarey Zedek, announced
Donald Fox and Paul
Zlotoff, general chairmen.
Recognizing Hechtman's
long association, Bar-Ilan
will name its Heroes Road
in his honor; this road is a
system of ramps and other
facilities that will provide
barrier-free access to all
university buildings.
In addition to his Bar-Ilan
activitiy, Hechtman made
possible the construction of
the Lillian and Samuel
Hechtman Federation
Apartments in West Bloom-
field. He also is past
president, vice 'president,
and ex-officio board
member of Jewish Federa-
tion Apartments.
He is a member of the
Jewish Welfare Federation
Board of Governors, chair-
man of the building com-
mittee for the Holocaust
Memorial Center, and is
active in the Allied,Jewish
.
Samuel Hechtman
Campaign. He and his wife
have been members of Adat
Shalom Synagogue for over
30 years, and he has been
appointed a life director of
the synagogue.
Hechtman is a canal
founder of State of Israel
Bonds, was designated as ,a
founder member of the
Bonds Prime Minister's
Club by Simcha Dinitz, and
received the State of Israel's
Medal of Valor in 1972.
