people . . . and we mean
many ... would love to hear
Ronnie sing again . . . He
really was that good . . .
Whatever the reason for his
not vocalizing in the past
number of years . . . there's
a hope that someday at
Jakks he'll suddenly join
Sharon Williams and duet
with this very talented
songstress.
The Louie Marr Quartet
and Sharon Williams plays
Tuesday through Saturday
at Jakks . . . and it's like old
times seeing Louie and
Ronnie together again . . .
Sharon ranks among the top
female vocalists in this
area.
BIG ATTRACTION
outside Sero's on North-
western Highway these
days has been a mother
duck perched on a litter of
eggs inside a planter . . .
Folks inside Sero's, like
evening hostess Mary
Lukasis, waitress Jane
Ewald and others, take out
water and food daily .. .
waiting for the day mama
duck will give birth to her
many offspring.
CAFE JARDIN will
soon •open at Somerset Mall
on W. Big Beaver . . . at site
of former Benno's . . . seat-
ing 80 . . . in center of mall
. La Cuisine Jardin
carry-out nearby is already
opened ... Both are owned
by Matt and Lisa Prentice of
Deli Unique, Greenfield
and Ten Mile.
THE BUTTON by Ben
Starr . . . a Jimmy Launce
PROduction at Somerset
Mall Dinner Theater, Troy,
is a comedy worth seeing .. .
Play is about Frank Forbes,
whose life is unbearable
after countless alimony
payments to ex-wife Gloria
. . . leaving him destitute
. even with three jobs .. .
Desperate, he plans to mur-
der her attorney, David
Morgan, and then commit
suicide . . . Frank goes to the
attorney's office and aims a
gun at him in the presence
of Pat Jamison, David's
mistress-secretary.
But Frank wants the
satisfaction of having
Gloria 'hear the gunshots
ending her alimony pay-
ments ... so he defers his
grim mission, gun still
pointed, forcing David to try
to reach her by phone ...
David's problems are com-
pounded when his wife,
Lucille, shows up ... Worse
still, Pat is crushed when
she finds herself one of a
long line of David's mistres-
ses . . . all approved by
Lucille.
As allegiances shift, the
gun passes from hand to
hand . . . and many folks are
made aware that under the
right circumstances, many
of them could possibly have
his or her button pressed to
cause flirting with the idea
of bodily harm.
At "The Club" at Hyatt
Regency, Dearborn, is an-
other Jimmy Launce
PROduction Bill Davis'
Mass Appeal . . . This was
.
originally presented by
Off-Broadway's Manhattan
Theatre Club . . . It is a bril-
liantly funny, yet warmly
compassionate play that
moved on to a long and criti-
cally hailed Broadway run
... Dealing with the conflict
between a comfortably es-
tablished older priest and
the impassioned young
seminarian who challenges
the validity of his well-
routined regimen, the play
explores their relationship
with a combination of
humor and deep-seated
humanity.
WHO SAYS grandpas
couldn't be treated by their
grandchildren on Father's
Day? . . . If the kids didn't
get 25 cents to do it, their
parents should have been
ashamed of themselves .. .
That's all it took . . . 25 cents
... to take granddad to
brunch at Michigan Inn on
Father's Day.
YEARS BACK on
Livernois and Seven Mile,
there used to be a restau-
rant named Le Bordeaux
. . . It was completely
French ... Now comes an-
other Le Bordeaux ... on
the other side of town .. .
Six Mile, two blocks west of
Middlebelt . with em-
phasis on Italian dining .. .
It is the former Vargo's
locale, seating 170 for
dinner, plus banquet area
for about 100.
The dingy dark look of
yesterday is gone . In its
stead has sprung up a silver
and black motif with
plenty of lighting and airi-
ness ... The ceiling has a
different coloring ... sky
green . . . and the formerly
dark wood beams have been
painted a gleaming silver.
The new Le Bordeaux has
been remodeled almost
completely . . . A 60-foot
padded bar is all new, pad-
ded stools are of chrome ...
no more vertical brass from
ceiling to floor around the
dance floor.
All tables and booths
have double cloths with spe-
cial design made at the mill
for Le Bordeaux ... Well- .
appointed pictures are on
the walls where silver foil
has taken the place of dark
paneling ... There are a lot
of mirrors, also . . . and the
brick has been painted
silver ... Another asset is
the bright entrance with its
arched doorway . . . No more
walking in blindly and
waiting a few minutes for
your eyes to get used to the
dark-like interior.
Le Bordeaux, only opened
since May 23, is owned by
Mike and wife Bona
Stoyanovich ... She is the
manager . . . and daughter
Sylvia is its evening hos-
tess.
In the kitchen is fine Chef
Tony Syrocki, who does
things with veal particu-
larly that not tqo many
others can do ... His veal
piccata, for example, is a
standout . . . but then again,
.
