Pathology chief
named at Hutzel

Dr. Joseph Wiener was
recently named chief of
pathology at Hutzel Hospi-
tal, located in the Detroit
Medical Center.
A leading researcher in
cardiovascular disease, Dr.
Wiener has a special inter-
est and expertise in car-
diovascular pathology and
electron microscopy with an
emphasis on hypertensive
cardiovascular disease. -
A 1953 graduate of the
University of Toronto
School of Medicine, he com-
pleted an internship at De-
troit Receiving Hospital
and a residency at the Mal-
lory Institute of Pathology,
Boston City Hospital.
In addition to his new
duties at Hutzel, Wiener
will continue to serve as
chairman of the pathology
department at the Wayne
State University School of
Medicine and as
pathologist-in-chief for De-
troit Receiving Hospital-
University Health Center.

Center affixes
new mezuzah

Bergstein of Cong. Bais
Chabad of Farmington Hills
made the blessing at the
mezuzah-affixing cere-
monies.
The mezuzah, measuring
22 inches, bears a scroll
written by Rabbi Yehuda
Klapman of Brooklyn.
Michael Lane of Far-
mington Hills designed its
Lucite case. Rabbi David
Nerenberg checked the
kashrut of the mezuza and
deemed it kosher.
