Time lag hurts Jewish travel guide

Loophole4

BY PROFESSOR ARNOLD AGES

Special to The Jewish News

Toronto — As is well
known, Jews make up a sig-
nificant portion of the
world's tourists.
Yet they have not been
well served Jewishly speak-
ing, in terms of proper
travel books. The London

Jewish Chronicle Travel
Guide has, for many years,
been putting out an annual
chronicle which provides
comprehensive, if minimal,
information about the im-
portant addresses in the
Jewish world.
Bernard Postal, one of
America's top journalists,
collaborated, a few years be-
fore he died, with Samuel
Abramson and Lionel
Koppman to produce The
Traveler's Guide to Jewish
Landmarks of Europe and
Jewish Landmarks of New
York. Both of these books
had specific geographical
historical targets.
Thus the market is still
ready for a comprehensive
world Jewish travel guide
which provides detailed in-
formation about Jewish
communities which is up to
date, well-written and at-
tractive.
