rman has announced she
will seek re-election to her
seat in the 64th house Dis-
trict, which includes the
cities of Southfield and Lat-
hrup Village and a portion
of northwest Berkley.
Ms. Berman, a Southfield
Democrat, was first elected
to the legislature in 1982.
She serves as vice chairman
of the House consumer af-
fairs committee and is a
member of the economic de-
velopment, labor, urban af-
fairs, and House policy
committees. She also is a
member of the statewide
Job Training Coordinating
Council and serves in the
House as majority whip.
A graduate of the Univer-
sity of Michigan, Ms. Be-
rman formerly was a high
school English teacher,
free-lance writer and com-
munity research director of
an area cable firm.
She is a member of Cong.
