Armstrong and Benny
Goodman in the '30s, before

in Playboy's annual All-
Star Jazz and Pop poll every
year since its inception 18
years ago.
Today, after 45 years at
the drums and vibes,
Hampton and his band still
play 50 weeks a year in the
United States and abroad.
