Mr. Nadler earned his winnings on the "$64,000 Question" pro- gram and its companion "$64,000 Chal- lenge" by answering obscure questions about baseball, history and geog- raphy. He gained his knowledge of these areas during his boyhood reading when he was a resident of a Jewish shelter home. Miss H... Ascher Henrietta C. Ascher, a member of Jewish com- munal organizations, died May 26 at age 95.. Born in Chicago, Ill., Miss Ascher lived in Detroit since 1925. Zemon, a sales representative for the tex- tile industry, died May 27 at age 82. Born in Detroit, Mr. Zemon was a resident of St. Petersburg, Fla., at the time of his death. • - Mr. Zemon' was employed by Alexander Lamport and Brother. He was a former Detroit city boy's tennis champion and a Detroit city junior doubles champion. He won a letter while on the University of Michigan tennis team. He was a member of Franklin Hills Country Club, Detroit Rotary Club, a board member of the Great Lakes Club, past president of the Hebrew Free Loan Association, a post his father held before him, and a member of the Harvard Alumni Association. He THE Trl was active on behalf of United Jewish Charities. Mr. Zemon had a special interest in theatrical prod- uctions and wrote, acted in and produced many original works for the clubs of which he was a member. During and after World War II, this theatrical ac- tivity included many USO productions that brought him to bases throughout Michigan and Canada. He pursued graduate studies at Harvard Univer- sity. He leaves a son, Dr. Stan- ley of Brookline, Mass.; a daughter, Prof. Natalie Davis of Princeton, N..J.; a sister, Dr. Gertrude Zemon-Gass; and three grandchildren. Interment Detroit. 28. Interment Delray Beach. • ISRAEL SHAPIRO, 80, of Grand Rapids, died May Ezra Danin, aided Haganah Tel Aviv' (JTA) — Ezra Danin, a veteran Arabist and former Haganah in- telligence chief, who es- corted' the late Golda Meir on her famous secret visit to King Abdullah of Jordan, died May 24. He was 82. Mr. Danin was bOrn in Jaffa and moved at age .6 to one of the first houses built in Tel Aviv, built by his father who was among the founders of the Ahuzat Bayit suburb which became Tel Aviv. Mr. Danin studied ag- riculture and was active in the new citrus industry, but his main activity was his secret work for Haganah in telligence, which he helped establish. The Danin family had been 'friends with the Emir Abdiillah, and paid several visits to the Trans- Jordanian leader. It was he who arranged for Golds Meir's meeting with Abdul- lah, in an effort to stave off fighting between the young state of Israel in the making and Trans-Jordan and ac- companied her on the visits. u l K AAUFMAN CHAPEL 18325 W. 9 Mile Rd.
