Teens to share
b'not mitzvah
with Soviet peer

Jodi Rubin and Lori
Sampson will twin their
b'not mitzvah with Regina
Tsesler of Russia at 9 a.m.
Sabbath services Saturday
at Adat Shalom Synagogue.
Regina's father, Isaac,
has been denied permisr
to emigrate from Rus
since 1974. The reason
given for refusal of exit
visas was Tsesler's army
service from 1969 to 1971.
When he served in the
army, he was placed in a
"Sports Division." The
Soviet government has
stated the reason for refusal
as a matter of state security.
Regina's grandfather and
aunt were permitted to im-
migrate to Israel in 1973.
Jodi is the daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. Jack Rubin of
West Bloomfield. Lori is the
daughter of Dr. and Mrs.
Michael Sampson of Far-
mington Hills.

Bat mitzvah
shares her day

Michelle Lynn will share
her bat mitzvah with
Marina Berenstein of Rus-
sia at Shabbat services at 11
a.m. Saturday at Temple
Beth El.
Marina, who will celeb-
rate her bat mitzvah in ab-
sentia, is the daughter of
parents who have been re-
fused emigration from Rus-
sia since October 1975. No
reason has been given for
denial of the family's exit
visas.
A special Torah will be
held by the rabbi on the
temple bimah to recognize
Marina's bat mitzvah in ab-
sentia.
Michelle is the daughter
of Dr. and Mrs. Norman
Lynn.
