Jerusalem (JTA) — Is
rael's economic leaders
were not surprised last
week by the alarming re-
port of the international
monetary fund on Israel's
economy.
Economic sources in
Jerusalem said one could
sense that this would be the
outcome of the fund's study
of Israeli economics before
the end of the visit by the
IMF delegation in Israel
several months ago. The re-
port was published last
Thursday.
The report says dip` the
present rate of inf. )n
endangers the functioning' 7
of Israeli economics, and
that officials should make a
special concentrated and in-
tensive effort to curb infla-
tion — instead of the
gradual approach by the
present economic leader-
ship.
Despite this conclusion,,
officials in Jerusalem said
Friday that the greater part
of the report fits the present
policy
and .;
economic
encourages it.
