Dinner Theatre at Botsford Inn

DIMITRI SYROS,

bossman at Dimitri's of
Southfield, Southfield and
10 Mile, has been named
1984 "Southfield Small
Business Person of The
Year" by its Chamber of
Commerce.
Dimitri came to America

from Greece in 1955 .. .
started out in the restau-
rant business immediately
. . . washing dishes for a
cousin . . . and worked him-
self up as cook, chef and
executive chef . . . During
the last 10 years, he has
opened 11 restaurants in
the Metropolitan Detroit
area. His present one, Di-
mitri's of Southfield, was
opened April 1982 . . . as
about 2,000 people ate and
drank in much merriment.
Original seating was for 260
people . . . It is now 325 .. .
Besides increasing the
capacity, he is greatly in-
volved in outside catering.
Opening very soon will be
Dimitri's Wildflower in
Drake Summit Shopping
Plaza, Walnut and Drake
. . . Also, negotiations are
underway for a restaurant
bearing his name in
Sarasota, Fla. . . . with proj-
ected opening slated for Oc-
tober of this year.
Plus the 65 regular jobs
created at Dimitri's of
Southfield, another 10 are
part-time.
Last two years, his an-
niversary parties have been
to raise money for Oakland
County Special Olympics
. . . Dimitri provides free
food and entertainment .. .
The $5 donation amounted
to $5,000 this year . . . He
intends to do the same each
birthday.

Pontchartrain, launches
season number 13, June 6
. . . with Flora Purim and
Airto Moreira . . . It is now
headed by Sylvia Gershen-
son, chairman of the board
and president of Hotel
Pontchartrain . . . with as-
sistance of Bill Eberson,
vice prez and general man-
ager . . . and Shlomo Pel-
man, food and beverage di-
rector.
Concerts will run Mon-
days and Wednesdays each
week through August .. .
and also every Friday from
June 29 through July 27 .. .
Starting time for the con-
certs will be 6:30 p.m. . . . on
the outdoor poolside terrace
of the Pontch, Washington
Blvd. and Jefferson Ave.,
across from Cobo Hall.
A happy hour called
"Tune-Up Time" will run
