He was a life member of the 210 Shoe Association, a charter member of Adat Shalom Synagogue, a past president the Eastside o Businessmen's Club, past president of Eastside Lodge of B'nai B'rith, and was a member of Brotherhood- Eddie Jacobson Lodge of B'nai B'rith. He was in- volved in tasks for the Al- lied Jewish Campaign. He leaves his wife, Lil- lian; a son, D. Shaarey Zedek and its sisterhood for 42 years. She was an or- ganizer and past president of the Young Women's Miz- rachi. Mrs. Shuman also was a life member of Hadassah and a board member of its Business and Professional Group. She held member- ship in the American Jewish Congress, Women's American O.R.T. and Sierra Club. Andy Kaufman, comedian dies Los Angeles — Comedian Andy Kaufman, who was noted for his off-the-wall humor and for his role of "Latka" on the Taxi televi- sion show, is dead of lung cancer. He was in his 30s.
