stallation dinner-dance at 8
p.m. Saturday at the Hyatt
Regency Hotel. Cocktails
will be served at 7 p.m.
Dr. Joel P. Schaumberg
will be installed as the 55th
president of the Detroit
Chapter. A graduate of
Wayne State University,
where he earned a Bachelor_
of Arts degree, Dr. Schaum-
berg earned a D.D.S. degree
at the University of Michi-
gan in 1973.
He previously served as
president-elect, as a
member of the Alpha
Omega Council, as trea-
surer, corresponding secre-
tary and as the chairman of
many fraternity and profes-
sional scientific commit-
tees.

Rose Hirsch
Before coming to Sinai,
Ms. Hirsch served as the
acting director, health and
substance abuse division, of
New Detroit, Inc., the na-
tion's first urban coalition.
Ms. Hirsch is a member of

the New Detroit health
committee, chairman of the
media and communication
committee of the Detroit/
Wayne County Infant
Health Promotion Coali-
tion, participates on the De-
troit Chamber of Commerce
urban affairs committee,
and was recently elected to
the board of the Northwest
Business Council.
Her past affiliations in-
clude membership on the
board of trustees of the
Comprehensive Health
Planning Council of South-
eastern Michigan and the
Health Services Committee
of United Community Serv-
ices.
Ms. Hirsch received a
master's degree in social
work from Wayne State
University School of Social
Work in 1981. She also
earned a Master of Arts de-
gree in East Asian Studies
from the University of
Michigan in 1975. She re-
ceived her Bachelor of Arts
degree in 1972 from Oak-
land University.

Oral surgery

Oral surgery will be the
focus of Perioperative Up-
date '84, a conference pre-
sented for professional
nurses by Sinai Hospital of
Detroit, from 8 a.m. to 4:30
p.m. June 20 at the Mercy
College of Detroit Confer-
ence Center.
The program will offer an
overview of all phases of
care for the oral-
maxillofacial surgery
patient, including handling
post-operative emergency
situations and helping
patients and staff relax.
The fee for the conference
covers meals and materials.
The registration deadline is

The newly formed Michi-
gan Cleft Palate Associa-
