Linden, retir- ing president of the College of Jewish Studies, will be honored by the local Reform movement at a dinner to be held at 6 p.m. May 23 at Temple Israel. Linden, who has served in that position since the in- ception of the college in 1966, is being given the tes- timonial by the Metropoli- tan Detroit Federation of Reform Synagogues, spon- sors of the college. Coming here from New York as the guest speaker will be Rabbi Alexander M. Schindler, president of the Union of American Hebrew Congregations. Linden, a former vice chairman of the U.A.H.C. and currently a member of its executive committee, is also a national co-chairman Bernard Linden of the Fund for Reform Judaism. He is a member of the U.A.H.C.'s budget and endowment and investment committees, and is a past national chairman of the gerontology committee. Linden also serves as a board member of the World Union for Progressive Judaism. Graduated from Wayne State University, Linden holds both bachelor's and master's degrees in educa- tion. He was a teacher in the Detroit Public Schools be- fore entering the property management business. Linden is a past president of Temple Israel, where he served as school board chairman and in a variety of other capacities. Yeshivah VP receives award Rabbi Nachman Kahn, executive vice president of Yeshivath Beth Yehudah, will be honored with the Chasan Torah Award of Chinuch Atzmai-Torah Schools for Israel at the organization's 31st national dinner on May 20 at the New York Hilton. Rabbi Kahn, who has been associated with the yeshivah for 30 years, will be cited for "three decades of service and devotion to Torah education in America and Israel."
