Richard Lenter new head
of West Bloomfield temple

Richard Lenter was
elected president of Temple
Kol Ami in West Bloomfield
at the annual congrega-
tional election meeting.
Elected with him were:
Gerald Wigod, Anthony
I and Leo Liffman, vice
ddents; Sheila Randel,
set.retary; and James Ful-
ler, treasurer.
Elected to the board were:
Myron Bender, Alice Kahn,
Gail Herschman, Dr. Henry
Shevitz, Stephen Raitt and
Judy Goren.
Continuing to serve on
the board are: Frieda
Samet, Dr. George Kates,
Sidney Frank, Nena Chud-
noff, Renee Epstein, Jo Ann
Kovan, Harvey Beim and
Sidney Moss.
The temple also an-
nounced that the founding
members of Temple Kol
Ami will be honored at a
special Chai Service at 8
p.m. today celebrating the

18th anniversary of the -
temple's founding.
Honorees are: Barbara
Capcanell, Louis Golden,
Sylvia Golden, Janet Lynn,
Mr. and Mrs. Morris
Mersky, Claire Phillips and
Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Sol-
omon.
Music by pianist Nathalie
Conrad and the Temple Kol
Ami choir will highlight the
service. An Oneg Shabbat,
prepared by the sisterhood,
will follow.
The community is in-
vited.
The home of the Merskys
was the scene of the first
service of the new temple on
Aug. 12, 1966. The
groundbreaking ceremony
for the temple building took
place on April 28, 1974, and
the congregation moved in
in March 1975.
Temple Kol Ami cur-
rently has 300 member
families.

choirs singing music from
the 17th Century to today.
The guest choir will be
the Cantata Academy of
Metropolitan Detroit, di-
rected by Frederick Bel-
linger. Three Temple Beth
El choirs, under the direc-
tion of Mrs. Jason Tickton,
also will participate.
A brass sextet will pro-
vide accompaniment on
some arrangements.
Rabbis Dannel Schwartz
and Norman Roman will
read and narrate the serv-
ice. Prof. Jason Tickton,
temple music director and
organist, will direct the
production. Guest organist
will be Stephen Jenkins.
Featured composers are
Rossi, Sulzer, Lewan-
dowski, Helfman, Berlinski
and Roman.
The public is invited free

tary chaplains traveled to
Israel this week for a semi-.

the French army.
