criminals are caught and tried or
they die off? She and her husband
will continue their work through the
Beate Klarsfeld Foundation. Based
in New York, the foundation prints
books and documents about Nazi era
war crimes. The non-profit founda-
tion depends on her lecture fees, at-

torney's fees from her husband's law
practice, help from friends and pri-
vate donations.
Right now she's seeking gov-
ernmental help: "I'd like to see more
pressure from the- United States on
Pinochet to expel Rauff."
If her past performance is any
indication, she just may achieve that
goal.

Israel Independence Day fest nears

Local Jewish organiza-
tions will sponsor food and
gift booths at the commu-
nity's celebration of Israel's
36th (double chai) Indepen-
dence Day May .20 at the
main Jewish Community
Center. Theme of this year's
celebration is "Say Yes to
Israel."
Sponsoring organizations

keynote speaker. Israeli
vocalist Gadi Elon will
entertain.

pre-school through ninth
grade are eligible to partici-
pate in a poster contest.

final Bargman series lecture

Dr. David Sidorsky, pro-
fessor of philosophy at
Columbia University, will
be the concluding lecturer
in the 28th Annual Mina
and Theodore Bargman
Memorial Lecture Series.
Dr. Sidorsky will deliver
a talk on "Jewish Commu-
nity: Present and Future" at
8 p.m. Wednesday in the
Louis and Esther LaMed
Auditorium of the main
United Hebrew Schools
building.
It is open to the public at
no charge.
The funds for these lec-
tures are provided by the
Mina and Theodore
Bargman Foundation.
The Bargman Institute
