its responsibilities, came to
the rescue. They discovered
a nice Jewish lad from
France, soft-spoken (natur-
ally, he is Jewish), who da-
vens every day, seeks out an
Orthodox shul to pray on
Shabbes, eats only milchigs
at the Pontchartrain Hotel
and fights for (his) religion
on Sunday.
Alright, so he did get
knocked out in the sixth
round of a ten-rounder, but
win or lose, he still believes
in God. Only God knows
what might have happened
had he not believed in Him.
But you, Mr. Editor, were
certainly understanding
and gave him only a half-
page of Pages 1 and 20, and
a quarter of Page 22. A less
discerning editor might
have given him only the left
bottom two-inch square on
Page 77 — if he had won,
that is.
That we still haven't
scraped the bottom of the
barrel, you present a full
page of Bobby the Koiten-
shpieler. In the days of yore,
when scholars and teachers
were, perhaps mistakenly,
thought to be models to be
followed, a kortenshpieler
would have been locked
away in a closet and exposed
only by quarrelling good
friends. But look, times
have obviously changed.
