Because this is the first time such an event has been attempted in Detroit, the walk committee doesn't really know what kind of turnout to expect, Feldman said. For this reason, no specific fundraising goal has been set. Serving on the committee for the walk are Gayle Burs- tein, Susan Citrin, Marcy Feldman, Louis Milgrom and Edie Mittenthal. Also, Dr. Maurice Op- perer, Ronald Riback, Marla Rodgers, Ben Ro- senthal, Florie Schwartz and Alan Yost. In addition to walkers, Feldman cited the need for volunteers to staff check points and serve as traffic monitors. Following the Walk for Israel, partici- pants .and volunteers are invited to take part in the other Independence Day ac- tivities at the Center. Registration kits are necessary for walkers so that they may sign up spon- sors. To obtain a kit or for further information on the Walk for Israel, call Judith Swartz, 965-3939.
