The Wish Book

A catalog of heart-warming opportunities for you
to provide some very special gifts.

Shabbat dinner is on the
table. Your best friend says
Kiddish, smiling a little
afterwards—he's got it
down pat. The six of you sit
down to eat, to talk about
the week and what you did
at work, your plans for the
weekend.
It's Friday night in a
Jewish home, and a typical
Friday night in a Haverim
Home. The only difference
is the men and women in
Haverim Homes are
mentally retarded. And
while their goals...to live
with dignity, pride and
accomplishment ...are like
yours, they need more help.
They need understanding
and respect. And they need
the dollars it takes to staff

SUPPLEMENT OF THE DETROIT JEWISH NEWS

and operate our seven
Haverim homes,
Apartment Program and
Family Assistance Program.
This is a Wish Book of the
Jewish Association for
Retarded Citizens. It is full
of the wishes of the
mentally retarded men and
women we serve; new
wishes as well as the
continuation of wishes
already provided.
You'll see in this Wish
Book a quest for simple
things. A Shabbat dinner...a
coat of paint...a SEMTA bus
card. You'll see the keys to
independence for
Apartment Program clients,
and the overwhelming need
of those still desperately
waiting for placement.

Turn the pages and step
into the lives of the men
and women of the Jewish
Association for Retarded
Citizens. Show your
understanding and your
concern by giving.
