numbers at recent bar
mitzvah reception of Jeffrey
David Jacobs
downstairs in Crackers of
Nifty Norman's, Walled
Lake . . . Adults with names
and numbers in packages of
two round Gayle's chocolate
truffles . . . Young folks had
chocolate bars also from
Gayle's ... Inscription on
both was "Sweet Memories
From Jeffrey."
Bonnie LePage, Norm's
great gal, doing a super job
. . . The beautiful room that
once housed dinner theater
and then a disco was fes-
tively decorated with bal-
loons, lanterns and flashing
lights . . . as music from the
glassed-in disc jockey room
played fun melodies . . . Jef-
frey's mom Paulette and
hubby Bob Koffron a de-
lightful couple . . . Jeff's
grandparents, Jay and Mar-
ion Grant, the kind of people
folks are proud to know.
Ben Marks was telling of
running Jewish Golf Open
two years but will do it
again only if he gets help .. .
Paulette and sister Audrey
Kozin (Frank) doing the
Charleston . . . Marion
Grant and Shirley Marks
dancing to "New York, New
York" . . . Joy Burris up-
stairs as usual the wonder-
ful evening hostess man-
ager Norm and Bonnie are
so happy to have.
GET WELL WISHES
... to Sid Kaluzny . at
Sinai Hospital . . . recover-
ing from surgery.
SHIRLEY BARON is as
nimble on her feet as she is
with fingers of folks . . .
Local manicurist won two
first place trophies . . . doing
the fox trot and tango . . . at
Cobo Hall's recent Detroit
International Ball.
JOEL FISHER, former
stalwart with F & M here,
moved to Florida . . . and
with partner Jerry Findley
has opened a similar type
operation on 66th Street in
St. Petersburg . . . under
name of Joel 'n Jerry's .. .
The approximately 10,000
square foot store and 20,000
foot warehouse opened
March 1 . . . Plans are al-
ready for a second one soon
in Clearwater.

1944 Central High reunion,
May 19, at Pontiac Silver-
dome, is Phyllis Paul, 352-
2612 . . . or leave message
for her at 559-1691.

Katanick . . . on their 31st
anniversary . . . Remember

It's the Alvar Show . . . and
he is a master of many
media whose work will
influence the art world
dramatically in our century

OAK PARK HIGH

graduates . . . for 10-year
reunion . . . Call Penny
Surfs, 552-0100 days, Mon-
day through Friday.
WHAT HAPPENED
TO respect for the Jewish
community calendar? .. .
Organizations who conflict
with each other are totally
ridiculous . . . No one wins
out when affairs are given
on the same day or evening
. . . regardless of what some
groups say . . . There are
those who have intimated,
"We don't need any help"
. . If this is the case, why do
they seek publicity?
Perhaps it wouldn't be a
bad idea if groups who make
conflict when a date is taken
are not given as much con-
sideration as those who've
had the date "locked up" for
so long.
Years ago, the Jewish
Community Council calen-
dar was strong and highly
regarded . . . As a result,
everyone prospered and
people didn't have to choose
between one or the other .. .
in many cases just staying
home so as not to create
any ill feelings . . . This is a
serious situation . . . and
shouldn't be taken lightly.
NOT TOO LATE to call
for tickets to How Many
Minutes to Midnight by
localites Rudy Simon and
Mort Zieve . . . April 12-15
in General Lecture Au-
ditorium on Wayne State
University campus . . . Per-
formers will be Phil Marcus
Esser and Barbara Bredius

BEAUTY HINTS ... by
Tamara Friedman:
Q - How can I get my
face in shape for spring after
this brutal winter?
A - A deep pore cleans-
ing facial will clean the
pores, replenish moisture
and give skin a revitalized
look.
Q - I'm 15 and starting to
break out. Do I need a whole
facial?
A - Many salons offer
what is called a "Teenage
facial" with skin thoroughly
cleansed only where it is
clogged.
