- • THE DETROIT JEWISH NEWS JCCouncil lists nominees for new programming year Andrew Zack, chairman of the nominating commit- tee for the Jewish Commu- nity Council of Metropoli- tan Detroit, has announced the slate of officers and executive committee mem- bers for the 1984-1985 pro- gram year. Additional nominations may be made through peti- tion by delegates. Petition deadline is Wednesday. Each petition must have the signatures of five delegates and the candidate must be a delegate who has indicated in writing his or her willingness to serve if elected. The names of all candidates (petition and nominating committee recommendations) will be on the ballot at the election held during the season's final assembly on May 24. Nominating committee members are: Zack, Louis Rosenzweig, Mrs. Harold Noveck, Mrs. Philip Rader, Robert Israel, Sol C _ ohen and Ezekiel Leikin. - The slate presented by the nominating committee includes: David Lebenbom, president; Leon Cohan, David L. Denn and Mrs. Herbert Fealk, vice presidents; Oscar Hertz, secretary; Rabbi Richard C. Hertz, treasurer. For election to the execu- tive committee, the nominating committee pre- sents the names of: Leonard Baron, Rabbi Ernst J. Con- rad, Laurence B. Council offers slide program To coincide with action alerts advising community leadership of pending Con- gressional legislation which would move the United States Embassy in Israel to Jerusalem, the Jewish Community Council of Met- ropolitan Detroit has added an up-to-date slide tape pre- sentation "Jerusalem: Sights and Sounds" to its audio-visual library. Council's program service and information depart- ment in room one of the main United Hebrew Schools building houses a collection of films and slide presentations available to the community at a nominal charge. Also available are educational materials and speakers on a wide variety of topics including Israel and the Middle East, Soviet Jewry, Holocaust educa- tion, anti-Semitism and in- tergroup relations.
