Sonia is a survivor. She and her grand-
son are among the several thousand Jews
living in Bucharest — and thousands more
living in 30 countries around the world —
who receive assistance from the Joint
Distribution Committee. For 70 years, the
JDC has engaged .in rescue and relief
among the needy; through the Allied
Jewish Campaign we are helping in that
humanitarian effort.

Jacob lives in downtown Detroit. Although
he is far from the colter of Jewish life, the
spirit is there, and it's being nurtured
with help from the community through its
Jewish Welfare Federation agencies. Last
year, several thousand other Detroiters
received assistance from those helping
agencies, thanks to the generosity of this
community through the Allied Jewish
Campaign.

Yoni once saw his future in the streets
of Ramla. Now the young Israeli looks
ahead to his high school graduation, army
service and a career as a technician. We
Detroiters made it happen through Project
Renewal, a remarkable partnership with
the people of Israel. Many other programs
for young people, the aged, handicapped
and families in need are made possible in
Israel with our contributions to the Allied
Jewish Campaign.
