Bar Mitzvah
shares rite
Marc Provizer will share
his Bar Mitzvah with Sasha
Shoichet in absentia at
services at 8:45 a.m. Satur-
day at Shaarey Zedek.
Sasha lives with his parents
Mikhil and Anna in Khar-
kov in the Ukraine. Both of
his parents are engineers.
They applied for permis-
sion to emigrate to Israel in
September 1978 along with
Mikhil's parents, Josef and
Anna. All were refused
permission in December of
that year. The reason given
for the refusal was Mikhil's
employment some eight
years before at a military
plant made him a security
risk, according to the
Soviets.
Since requesting an exit
visa, the,Shoichets have lost
their engineering jobs and
Anna is now forced to work
as a beautician and Mikhil
as a manual laborer in order
to survive. They are living
in a small apartment with
his parents.
- Marc is the son of Mr. and
Mrs. Harold (Joan) Pro-
vizer.
