The first, scheduled for Thursday, April 26 will be to the De- troit premiere performance of the Israel Ballet. Busses will leave the Shaarey Zedek parking lot at 7 p.m. for Ford Auditorium. Or- chestra seat tickets and round trip bus transporta- tion will be $24. Theatergoers will be treated to a special per- formance of `Lydie Breeze" on Wednesday, May 9 at the Attic Theater. The play is written and directed by well known playwright Lawr- ence Carr. This project was made possible by the sup- port of the National Endowment for the Arts, the Michigan Council for the Arts, and the Detroit Council for the Arts". The morning perform- ance will be followed by lunch in Greektown. The play, lunch and round trip bus transportation from the Shaarey Zedek parking lot is $20. Advance reserva- tions are required for both events. Hadassah will hold its 70th national convention at the San Francisco Hilton Hotel August 26-29. Founded. by Henrietta Szold in 1912, Hadassah is the largest women's volun- teer organization in the United States. Hadassah spends millions annually for its health, education, vocational, social welfare and land-redemption pro- grams in Israel, and its edu- cation and youth programs in the United States. This year the delegates will elect a new president and several other national officers. In addition, dele- gates will hear reports, project plans, adopt budgets, participate in seminars and workshops, and hear addresses by gov- ernment leaders and inter- national authorities in the fields of Hadassah activi- ties. TENNIS TOURNAMENT TO BEGIN MAY 30 The Fifth Annual Hadas- sah Women's Open Tennis Tournament will be held May 30, 31 and June 1 at the Franklin Racquet Club. Nadine Miller, Tourna- ment Chairman announced that this event is open to all area women. She said that players of all abilities look forward to this annual event. There will be both singles and doubles. The entry fee of $25 includes luncli the first day, A tour- nament visor, and refresh- ments throughout the tour- nament. Trophies will be awarded for first and second place winners in the main draw and winners of the consolation tournament. . Entry forms will be mailed shortly to all Hadas- sah members and all players from previous years. Others who are in- terested may call the Hadassah office at 357-2920 to be added to the mailing list. This years committee in- cludes: Barbara Gutman, advisor; Mariann Cramer and Audrey Edelheit, pub- licity; Barbara Ben and Janice Bloom, hospitality; and Joan Provizer, ar- rangements. Proceeds from this tour- nament are used to benefit cardiovascular research at the Hadassah Medical Complex in Jerusalem. REGION CONFERENCE IN MAY Michigan Region of Hadassah will hold its an- nual spring conference in Grand Rapids May The conference will feature a variety of workshops and seminars and provide in opportunity to exchange ideas with members of Hadassah groups through- out the state.
