Kibbutz industry
exports rise

Haifa (JNI) — Israel's
kibutz industries, which
constitute eight percent of
all Israeli manufacturing
plants, were the only eco-
nomic sector to increase ex-
ports in 1983 — reaching
combined earnings of $199
million. It is estimated that
some 30 percent of kibutz
members. actually work in
the 450 kibutz factories.
Less than four percent of the
Israeli Copulation, or about
120,000 people, live in
kibutzim.
