Are You:

Tel Aviv (JNI) — One-
half of the stone "tablets of
the Law" which once
adorned a German
synagogue destroyed by the
Nazis on "Kristalnacht" in
1938 was installed earlier
this month in a Tel Aviv
synagogue.
The marble stone from
the synagogue in Leer was
rediscovered about a year
ago, when a German woman
told her minister that her
late husband had taken the
tablet on the night of the
synagogue's destruction
and had used it as a step in
his garden.

Land Day
Changes set

Shfaram (JNI) — Israeli
Arab groups have changed
the tone for the March 30
celebration of the eighth
anniversary of Land Day.
Land Day, which began in
1976 as a protest against a
plan by the Israeli govern-
ment to expropriate land be-
longing to Arab villagers,
has been marked by violent
demonstrations in past
years. However, the resolu-
tion for this year's celebra-
tion calls for "co-existence,
fraternity and dialogue be-
tween Jews and Arabs,
based on granting equal
rights to the Arab popula-
tion."

New menu
for El Al

New York — Passengers
on El Al flights to Israel will
be able to sample a number
of culinary delights begin-
ning this spring as the air-
line has upgraded its menu.
The new menu was
planned by noted Israeli
chef Uri Guttman. The
kosher meals will be served
by Borenstein Caterers of
New York, long-standing
suppliers to El Al.

Grandparents
Group formed

Montreal (JTA) — A
group of Jewish grandpar-
ents have organized a proj-
ect to help thew win the
right to see their grandchil-
dren, generally the children
of divorced parents who
have custody of the grand-
children and deny the
grandparents visiting
rights.

New bacteria
Fights Malaria

Jerusalem (JNI) — The
Galil Institute of
Technological Bacteria has
developed a new micro-
bacteria capable of wiping
out the anofeles mosquito,
which causes jaundice and
malaria, to which 1.8 billion
people in 63 countries
throughout the world are
exposed during their
lifetimes.
The new micro-bacteria
is expected to be most effec-
tive in the Third World,
where 240 million people
presently suffer from jaun-
dice, of which one million
African children died in the
past year alone.
