r Youth News BETH ACHIM'S youth ° department will conduct a special creative Purim pro- ' gram at 10 a.m. Sunday in the Klein Chapel for chil- dren age 3-9. Segments of the Megilla will be read and translated, - Purim stories and tradi- tions will be told and there will be a display of cos- tumes. All children attend- ing in costume will receive extra game tickets to use that day at the Purim car- nival which will be im- mediately following. Lahav United Synagogue youth will sponsor the syn- agogue Purim carnival scheduled for 11 a.m. Sun- day in the youth lounge. There will be games, prizes and food. Advance tickets will be available at the Beth Achim Hebrew School on Tuesday and Thursday at a discounted price. Tickets will also be available at the door at regular price. Shabat youth services are r BBYO held every Saturday at 10 a.m. for all groups. * * * BNAI DAVID youth and their friends will partici- pate in the synagogue's Megilla reading at 7:45 p.m. Saturday. Youth should meet in the youth lounge at 7:35 p.m. A Purim costume party will follow, and prizes will be awarded. Shalakh manot will be distributed. The Shalom group will have a "Purim Sundae Sun- day" at 1 p.m. Sunday at the synagogue. Children age 3-8 are invited for haman- tashen and make-your-own ice cream sundaes in the youth lounge. Games will be played. There is a nominal charge. On March 24, Atid (grades nine-12) will go duck-pin bowling in Windsor. There is a charge. Activities Michigan Region BBYO will celebrate "BBYO Week" Sunday through March 25 in honor of the 60th anniversary of Aleph Zadik Aleph (AZA). The week will feature a series of varied programs open to all members of AZA and BBG as well as alumni and the entire Jewish community. The AZA Basketball League will play Sunday at Oakland Community Col- lege, Orchard Ridge cam- pus. At noon, Samson AZA will play Posen-Benny- Akiva and Wallenberg AZA o will play Jolson AZA. At 1 p.m., L'Chaim AZA will play Brandeis AZA and Akiba AZA will play Beber AZA. At 2 p.m., Rose AZA will play Goode AZA. Wal- lenberg AZA leads Division I with a 5-1 record and Herzl G AZA, Windsor, leads Di- vision II also with a 5-1 re- cord. The leading scorer is Mike Rosenthal of Wallen- berg AZA with a 31.2 aver- age, followed by Mark Burk of Herzl AZA at 22.8. The annual BBYO Ad- viser Recognition Night will take place 8 p.m. Mon- day at Adat Shalom Syna- gogue. Adult volunteer ad- visers will be cited. Michigan Region BBYO will celebrate the 60th an- niversary of AZA at a spe- cial community Sabbath and oneg Shabat at Cong. Beth Achim on March 23 at 8 p.m. The creative service will be followed by a com- memorative program featuring Richard Heide- man of Louisville, Ky., and a former Detroiter, who served as international president of AZA from 1964 to 1965. Also appearing at the event will be Brenda Fishman, of Greenbrae, Calif., current interna- tional president of Bnai Brith Girls, the counterpart organization to AZA. This program is open to the entire Jewish community and AZA and BBG alumni. A reception will follow. Overall coordinator for the program is BBYO Board Vice Chairman Charlotte Edelheit. Gen. Maurice Rose AZA will sponsor its second annual semi-formal spring dance at 8 p.m. March 24 at Southfield-Lathrup High School. The dance will fea- ture disc jockey Eddie Ro- gers of WMJC radio. There is an admission fee, and re- freshments will be served. Micky Rosner, adviser to Rose AZA, will be in charge of supervision for the pro- gram. Israel Scouts to Take Stand JERUSALEM (JNI) — The Israel Scouts move- ment, in a change of policy, will take a stand on political and social issues.
