The suit seeks $3,000 to cover the cost of removing the red anti-Semitic graffiti which was spray-painted on the outside walls of Shaare Tefila synagogue. It also seeks monetary damages for emotional distress and punitive damages. It included anti- Semitic slogans such as "death to the Jude," "Take a shower Jew" as well as swastikas; skulls and crossbones, a burning cross and a Nazi eagle. Rep. Remmer received the maximum three-year sen- tence and Harris, who pleaded guilty and testified against Remmer, received a four-month sentence. A third defendant, John Cobb, received a six-month prison sen- tence for painting a swas- tika. on a car near the synagogue on the eve- ning of the desecration. Two others named in the suit, Joseph Hunt Jr., and Dominic Queen, were con- victed of stealing a van from a hardware store on the same evening and were placed on probation. Charges against another defendant, Thomas Heine, were dropped for lack of evi- dence. No charges were brought against the last two men named in the congregation suit, William Hess and Raymond Jordan. But the civil suit alleges that they participated in the desecra- tion. Officials Deny Prior Knowledge on Temple Mount TEL AVIV (JTA) — The Interior Minister, the Minister of Police and senior police officers refuted a story in Maariv last week claiming that police knowl- edge of the four men now ac- cused of planning- to cause harm to the temple Mount area and its Moslem Mos- ques had been "suppressed" and continued investiga- tions halted by "orders from on high." The paper said it had been informed of the "police in- telligence" and the start of investigations a year ago, including surveillance of the Lifta homes of the men now detained, by a "senior police intelligence source." The source was unnamed and the identity of the "higher up," presumably on the political level, was not disclosed. PURIM By MADOLYN ROSENTHAL Entertainment 7 Nights a Week Harpist ...
