THE DETROIT JEWISH NEWS Area Chairman Youth News BETH ACHIM Lahav United Synagogue Youth will meet for an oneg Shabat at 8 p.m. today in the home of Harriet Sher- man, 28365 Tavistock Trail, Southfield, and on Sunday at 1:30 p.m. at the synagogue for a Purim de- coration meeting. The 1984 Purim carnival will take place in the Beth Achim Youth Lounge on March 18 at 11 a.m. Tickets will be available in advance at the main United Hebrew Schools building at a dis- counted price and at the door on the day of the carni- val. There will be games and prizes. 'The Beth Achim Youth Department will sponsor a special Purim program 10 a.m. March 18 before the carnival for children who are Nitzanim and Kochavim age (3 to 9 years old). Portions of the Megil- lat Esther will be read and Purim songs and traditions will be taught to the chil- dren. Extra game tickets will be given to all children who come in costume. BBYO will sponsor a trip to the University of Michi- gan HOel Foundation in Ann Arbor on March 28.
