For information, * * * National Bnai Brith Women Names Detroiter to Board Barbara Zonder of Far- mington Hills was elected to the executive board of Bnai Brith Women at the organ- ization's international bi- ennial convention last month in New York City. Currently national vice chairman of BBW's Opera- tion Stork program, a pro- gram geared to educating pregnant women about pre- venting birth defects, Mrs. Zonder has held many posts during her 14 years with the 125,000-member interna- tional Jewish women's serv- ice and advocacy organiza- tion. She continues to serve as East Central Regional conference chairman, and has served as chairman of BBW's Midwest Region, and as that region's Opera- tion Stork chairman. While Operation Stork chairman, she organized the first Healthy aab y Week for the Detroit area. She also developed a human relations program using BBW Dolls for Democracy for the Farmington School District. For her efforts, BBW honored Mrs. Zonder as its Midwestern Volun- teer of the Year (1979- 1980), while the National Foundation-March of Dimes honored her with its leadership award for pro- gram initiation. She has also re- cruited new BBW mem- bers, led fund-raising ac- tivities, and trained others in the organiza- tion. She currently serves on both the Michigan regional advisory board of the Anti-Defamation League and the Michigan region Bnai Brith Youth Organ- ization board. She is vice president of the Greater Detroit Chapter of the Brandeis University National Women's Commit- tee; corresponding secre- tary of the Michigan Reli- gious Coalition for Abortion Rights; and a member of both the executive commit- tee of the March of Dimes (Metropolitan Chapter), and the board of directors of the Michigan Cancer Foun- dation (Oakland Region). On the community level, she is active in the Detroit Women's Forum, the De- troit Women of Alpha Omega, the Sinai Hospital Guild and Temple Kol Ami. In 1976, he was made spe- cial emissary to the JNF in Canada and since 1979 he has directed the cultural department of the Labor Council of Tel Aviv-Yafo.
