WHAT SONG WOULD
you think might be the most
requested of Randy Car-
michael, pianist-songster
who opened recently at An-
ton's on Mack in Grosse
Pointe Woods? . . . Re-
member, now, he's the
talented son of late great
Hoagy Carmichael.
If you guessed "Stardust"
or "Georgia," both written
by his dad . . . you're wrong
. . . Take all the bets you can
that it's "Misty."
Randy returned to the
piano keys for friend Bill
Anton . . . and is playing
Wednesdays through
Saturdays from 8 p.m.
His "Misty" is wonder-

ful ... with a touch of the
late Errol Garner thrown
in ... No doubt about
Randy Carmichael lov-
ing music . . . Whether
performing or producing
it, he seems to come alive
in his presence.
At Anton's for the third
time, Randy's range of
songs is vast . . . as his fin-
gers and vocal chords com-
bine on "What I Did For
Love," "Mack The Knife,"
"Everything Happens To
Me," "That's Life" and so
many, many other well-
known tunes . . . including,
naturally, "Stardust" and
"Georgia."
Musicians like to come
and sit in with Randy .. .
While recently there, I had
the wonderful pleasure of
hearing a terrific sax and
bass combine with him on
bevies of tunes . . . one of the
best yet with rendition of
"Georgia."
Anton's still retains its
reputation as a three-time
Holiday award winning res-
taurant . . . It seats 80 in
two dining rooms and 40 in
the lounge with piano bar
and tables . . . Almost ev-
erything is custom-made
. . . the high-backed padded
chairs, padded, booths, etc.
Our waiter, Lary
"Lars" Burkeen, was
wonderful ... very effi-
cient, personable and
highly knowledgeable ...
People will remember
him from Sheraton-
Southfield, Michigan Inn,
Perney's, Old Place or
Rhinoceros.
Bill's :manager, Rosanne
Rollins, is so pleasant, smil-
ing and ever alertly atten-
tive.
You know Anton's is a
class restaurant when the
pure creamery butter is
brought in a dish . . . plus
bread basket with crois-
sants, rolls and sesame
sticks . . . It was a rough
choice between Seafood
Bisque or Iced Gazpacho .. .
a flip of the coin made it Sea-
food Bisque, . . . full bodied,
loaded with seafaring
goodies and so very tasty .. .
Hadn't had any iron in a
while, so opted for the Pro-
vimi Calf's Liver sauteed
with spinach, bacon and on-
ions . . . and patted myself
on the back for a wise
choise.
Anton's is one of the very
few places where Caesar
Salad is its house salad .. .
Reason why folks don't see
any egg white, anchovies or
garlic there is because all
are puree'd into a sauce to
pour over crisp Romaine let-
tuce.
The elegant dining is in
a superb, French-like
atmosphere ... with
beautiful chandeliers,
fine art painting on walls,
shelf with plates and
books, etc.
When personalities from
show business come to town,
chances are they make it to
Anton's . . . Now with
Randy Carmichael there,
those who knew Hoagy or
Randy as a child are there
