THE DETROIT JEWISH NEWS Dr. Richard Weiner, 44 Dr. Richard Alan Weiner, a. pediatrician with offices in Southfield, died Feb. 27 at age 44. A native Detroiter, Dr. Weiner was graduated from the University of Michigan Medical School (1965). He was a lieutenant comman- der in the Navy from 1968 to 1970. S. Fershtman Sidney Fershtman, an at- torney with offices in Mel- vindale, died Feb. 28 at age 60. A native Detroiter, Mr. -Fershtman was graduated from Wayne State Univer- sity Law School in 1950. He was a member of the Detroit and Michigan Bar Associa- tions and past president of Gamma Kappa Chi legal fraternity. Mr. Fershtman was awarded two Purple Hearts in World War II and fought in the Battle of the Bulge. He was a member of the Melvindale Kiwanis Club and the Goodfellows. He leaves his wife, Phyl- lis; a son, William; a daugh- ter, Julie; two sisters, Mrs. Sidney (Rita) Barish and Mrs. Edwin (Sylvia) Fox; and a brother, Herman. Eisenstadt Samuel Eisenstadt, a re- tired kosher butcher, died Feb. 25 at age 84. Born in Russia, Mr. Eisenstadt lived 62 years in Detroit. He owned a kosher meat market on Linwood Ave., and later on Six Mile. He sold his business 20 years ago, but - worked for another butcher. He retired five years ago. Mr. Eisenstadt was a member of Pisgah Lodge of Bnai Brith, Hebrew Be- nevolent Society, United Hebrew Schools, the Jewish Community Center and Cong. Bnai David. He prev- iously was a member of Cong. Beth Achim. Mr . Eisenstadt was active in efforts on behalf of the Beth Yehudah Schools and benefited a girls orphanage in Jerusalem. He is survived by his wife, Sarah; a son, Martin A.; a daughter, Mrs. Harry (Esther) Dines; five grand- children and one great- grandchild. .
