nations of the Passover laws
and customs in addition to
more than 1,000 holiday re-
cipes which can be used dur-
ing the entire year.

to the significance of
Passover and its dietary

The cookbook also offers

on the last day of Passover).
Other features of the

March 15 at Shaarey Zedek

The Klezmer Conservat-
ory Band will perform 7
p.m. March 25 at Cong.
Shaarey Zedek.
The Klezmer Conservat-
ory Band is a 14-member
musical group from the
Boston-Cambridge area.
Klezmer music dates
back to the bands of itiner-
ant Jewish musicians who
went from town to town
playing for Jewish festivals
and special events in
medieval Europe. By the
19th Century, klezmer
music had become a well-
developed musical form,
taking its inspiration from
the synagogue as well as
from non-Jewish culture. In
America, immigrant
Jewish musicians adapted

this music to the new
rhythms and new instru-
ments they found, creating
new klezmer forms.
In the last few years,
younger musicians have
become interested in
preserving this Yiddish
musical tradition.
There is a charge for the
performance. For tickets,
call the synagogue, 357-
5544.

Oneg Shabat literally
translates to "Sabbath de-
light.

Two Old City
Walls Uncovered
in Jerusalem

JERUSALEM (JNI)-
An excavation to lay tele-
phone cables outside the
walls of Jerusalem's Old
City has unearthed traces of
two of the city's ancient
walls from the Byzantine
era.
If the walls are shown by
further digging to run
parallel to the exposed Ot-
toman walls, previous
theories about the size of the
Old City may have to be ad-
justed, authorities said.
Town planners may also be
forced to adapt the Mamilla
neighborhood rehabilita-
tion plan which calls for
changing the network of
roads around Jaffa Gate.
