ATHENS (JTA) — The
Greek Parliament has ap-
proved an amendment to
the penal code providing
criminal penalties for acts
of religious discrimination,
including anti-Jewish acts,
the World Jewish Congress
(WJC) reported last week.
The legislation had been
urged for many years by the
Central Board of Jewish
Communities in Greece, the
representative body of
Greek Jewry and the WJC
affiliate here. The board
tried unsuccessfully in
1979, during the adminis-
tration of the previous
Greek government, to se-
cure passage of the relevant

Israelis Favor
Lebanon Pullout,
Poll Reveals

TEL AVIV (JTA) — A
public opinion poll pub-
lished in Maariv Friday
shows that more than half
the population is in favor of
a complete withdrawal of
the IDF from Lebanon,ia- nd
another third is in favor of
partial withdrawal.
The "complete with-
drawal" figure rose from
46.9 percent in December to
51.4 percent last month,
with the "partial with-
drawal" figure declining
marginally from 30.7 to
30.4 percent. Those oppos-
ing any withdrawal dropped
from 11.6 to 10.2 percent in
the poll.
Replying to another ques-
tion, 12.4 percent are in-
favor of continuation of the
present Likud government,
with 40.4 percent in favor of
a national unity govern-
ment, 33.7 percent in favor
of elections for a new gov-
ernment before the end of
its current term in two
years time, and 10.2 percent
back the Labor Alignment
to replacing the Likud.

A Rose by Any Other Name

JERUSALEM (JTA) —
Upset by the escalation of
abusive language by Israeli
politicians, especially in the
Knesset, a group calling it-
self the "Movement for a
Good Israel" is monitoring
the invectives in the hope
that political rivals will
exercise restraint, if only to
preserve the dignity of the
democratic process.
Most recently, labor MK
Shlomo Hillel complained
to the Knesset speaker that
Likdu Transport Minister
Haim Corfu had accused
him of "hyprocrisy" from
the Knesset rostrum. Ac-
cording to Hille, a member
of the British Parliament
was recently ousted from a
session for using the same
word.
The movement took the
matter up with Corfu. But
the Likud minister as unre-
pentant. He claimed that
Hillel had made two
diametrically opposed
statements on the same
issue and "if that is not hyp-
rocrisy, please ladies and
gentlemen of the move-
ment, tell me what is?"
According to the move-
ment's record, "hyprocrisy"
is indeed a mild pejorative
compared by others hurled
