State Zip Phone Last fall, a JWV member and a member of the Vete- rans of Foreign Wars were ticketed for selling paper poppies in the street at the intersection of Ten Mile and Southfield roads. Southfield police say street selling is dangerous and violates state traffic laws. Jack Kraizman, JWV judge advocate, told the city council Monday that funds generated by the street sales would be reduced drastically if the veterans were forced to sell poppies at office buildings and shop- ping centers. The veterans also contend that most businesses have rejected previous requests to allow the veterans to sell poppies. The poppy sales fi- nance gifts for veterans in Michigan VA hospi- tals, scholarships and charitable work of the veterans organizations. The city council held a study session last night to discuss the problem with the veterans and police offi- cials.
