Final Phase of AJCampaign Opens Sunday

with the opening brunch for

ceived two Tony nomina-
tions for her performances
on Broadway.
The 36 Days of Renewal
lead up to the _Campaign
closing — a community-
wide celebration — to
take place on April 12.
Campaign workers in the
Women's Division will
hold their annual
Phonogift telephone sol-
icitation appeal the week
of March 25. Preceded by
a Phonogift Rally on
March 21, the effort will
be undertaken to reach
several thousand women
in the Detroit area.
Midway through the 36
Days of Renewal, workers
in the professional, trades
and industries divisions
will gather for a report
meeting. The gathering, at
which Rabbi M. Robert
Syme will speak, is set for
March 25 at Jewish Federa-
tion Apartments.
Other major meetings are
scheduled for that time,
notably a Professional
Health Division fund-
raising meeting, featuring
Howard Stone, March 21,
and a Professional Service
Division gathering with
Congressman Larry Smith,
March 26. Both will be at
Adat Shalom Synagogue. A
Campaign-wide closing
telethon is planned for April
8.
Peter Alter, as chairman
of the Campaign New Gifts
Committee, is leading the
effort to reach those in the
community who are new to

annual pledge drive for the
Allied Jewish Campaign.
The rally precedes
Phonogift week — March 25
to April 1 — when
thousands of women in met-
ropolitan Detroit will be
called by volunteers and
asked to make their 1984
Campaign pledge.
Stone, whose career in
Jewish organization life
has taken him around the
world, will discuss the
needs of Jews at home,
abroad and in Israel.

Young Detroiters
Set for UJA Event

President Ronald Reagan
is scheduled to address the
2,500 men and women
attending the fourth na-
tional Young Leadership
Conference of the United
Jewish Appeal, March
11-13 in Washington, D.C.
At least 30 persons from De-
troit will be in attendance.
The meeting, called
"Linking Destinies," will
focus on critical issues fac-
ing world Jewry. Confer-
ence participants will meet
with members of the White
House staff and the State
Department, members of
Congress and representa-
tives of the state of Israel.
The local group will be led
by Michael S. Feldman,
chairman of the UJA Young
Leadership Cabinet, De-
troit Region.
Interested men and
women are invited to join
the Detroit delegation to
