Center. Booths open at 10 a.m. and a program is

Feldman; David Gubow, volunteers; Shelley Jackier,

behind Ms. Heavenrich.

matter that for two de-

children?
Doesn't it matter that it
was the PLO-terrorist ram-
page with their leftist
friends that tormented and
terrified the Lebanese,
blood-soaking their land
and using it as a Soviet base
for international terrorism
and subversion? Isn't the

fate for Israel?

In a statement submitted
to The Jewish News, Rabbi
Jack Goldman takes excep-
tion to the advertisements
and letters to the editor in
last week's issue in which
his letter of Feb. 10 was se-
verely criticized.
Rabbi Goldman resented
the statements, calling
them insults to him person-
ally and "a personal at-
tack."
Rabbi Goldman main-
tains in his statement that
his original criticism of
Lubavitch is correct, being
based on criticism by Rabbi
Eliezer Shach of the
Yeshiva of Panevezys in Is-
rael.

Hymie Cutler,

Editor, The Jewish News:
The Step Up to Israel con-
ference held Feb. 12 at the
Jewish Community Center
was well attended, drawing
upon a wide spectrum of the
Jewish community. Much
time, money and effort must
have been spent on plan-
ning the afternoon's events.
I was quite disappointed
in the afternoon! The slide
show of recent Detroit olim
was poorly staged and exe-
cuted. The seminar meeting
rooms were not marked by
signs prior to the sessions,
which started at least 20
minutes late.
Following each seminar
there was no literature
available about that semi-
nar's topic, etc.
Why does the Detroit
Jewish community spend so
much time and effort plan-
ning and publicizing major
events and then fail to carry
them off effectively?
