Franks who served with
George Washington in
the Revolutionary War,
painted in 1802 by famed
artist Gilbert Stuart.
Included in the 1820-1880
period are paintings of two

prominent Jews serving on
opposite sides of the Civil
War: Dr. Jacob DaSilva
Silas-Cohen, Acting Fleet
Surgeon to Union forces
blockading the South, and
Judah P. Benjamin, Secre-
tary of State for the Confed-
eracy.
As America's Jewish
population grew through
the 20th Century, the ex-
hibition highlights Jewish

photos of immigrants arriv-
ing at Ellis Island along
with a warm scene of a
grandfather introducing his
