SINGLES and the Encore
Cinema Club will sponsor a
showing of the film, "Smiles
of a Summer Night," at 7:30
p.m. Feb. 27 at the Cran-

brook Institute of Science
auditorium. There is an
admission charge, and cof-
fee and dessert will be
served. A discussion of the
film, conducted by Dr. Fred-
erick Roth, Jr., of the Cran-
brook English department,

The CNJS Dinner Series
will have its next dinner
outing at the Himalayas
Dining Room 7:30 p.m.
March 14. There is a fee,
and paid reservations are
due by March 9. Checks
should be made payable to
the Jewish Community
Center and sent to the
CNJS, 6600 W. Maple, West
Bloomfield 48033.
Future trips are planned
for April 11 at the Golden
Bowl and May 16 at Roma
Cafe.
Vegetarian dishes will be
available. Reservations are
limited.
Spaces are filling up for
the CNJS trip to Israel for
single adults age 25-45. The
trip will leave June 17 and
return June 28.
Cost of the trip includes
round-trip transportation
from Detroit, breakfast,
wine and cheese reception,
tours and accommodations
(double occupancy) at the
Basel in Tel Aviv and
Moriah in Jerusalem. All
porterage and entrance fees
to museums, exhibits, boat
ride in Galilee and admis-
sion to Masada are in-
cluded.

Detroiter Endows Research
Fund at Bar-Ilan University

Louis Fisher established
a research endowment at
Bar-Ilan University during
a recent trip to Israel and to
the university.
The Fisher Fund will be
part of the ongoing health
sciences endowment on
campus, which supports
Bar-Ilan's medical re-
search, according to Dr.
Leon Fill, who was instru-
mental in the conceptuali-
zation and organization of
the endowment.
The department of life
sciences has used the
endowment to directly fund
research in four areas of
human disease: cancer,
cardio-vascular, endocrine
and metabolic, and nervous
and muscle dysfunction.
In addition to his Bar-
Ilan involvement, Fisher
has been active with a
number of organizations

Dr. Henry L. Nadler,
dean of the school of
medicine at Wayne State
University, has been named
to the Marygrove College
Board of Trustees.

AJCongress Series to Begin

The American Jewish
Congress will begin a series
on the issue of human rights
under Israeli law in the ad-
ministered territories at
10:30 a.m. Sunday at the
main United Hebrew
Schools Building.
On Sunday, Martin J.
Adelman, Michigan Region
president and professor of
law at Wayne State Univer-
sity, will be the guest
speaker. He also will lead
the discussion at 10:30 a.m.
March 11.
The two sessions are open
to paid-up members of the
AJCongress. Continental
breakfast will be served at a
nominal charge. For reser-

1 large onion, diced
1 green pepper, diced
1 clove garlic, diced
oil
3 cups diced, cooked chicken
15 ozs. tomato-mushroom
sauce
1/2 cup water
10 ozs. frozen mixed vegeta-
bles.
Fry pepper, garlic and onion
in oil until onions are golden.
Add chicken and fry for a few
minutes. Transfer to a cas-
serole dish. Mix tomato-
mushroom sauce with water.
Add mixed vegetables and
pour over chicken. Bake
covered at 375 degrees for
20-30 minutes or until vegeta-
bles are done. Serve over noo-
dles.
