Rabbi Koller is the reci- pient of numerous awards and honors, particularly for his work on behalf of the state of Israel. Sofie is the daughter of re- fusniks Grigory and Marina Vigdarov, who have been seeking to immigrate to Is- rael since 1973. It was in 1973 that Grigory's parents were allowed exit visas. They now live in Petah Tikva. Grigory served in the Russian army, then enrolled in the university as an economics student. He did not graduate, however, discontinuing his studies so that a degree would not im- pede the family's emigra- tion. Although government of- ficials told him he would be granted an exit visa if he quit his job as a pressmaker in a button factory, emigra- tion has continually been refused. The family sur- vives only on the odd jobs he is able to secure.
