David B. Hermelin of De-
troit, national campaign
chairman, reported that the
dinner, sponsored by the
Bonds Organization's
President's Club and Prime
Minster's Club, will also in-
augurate the 1984 tribute to
Rabbi Leon Kronish of
Miami Beach, International
Associate Chairman of Is-
rael Bonds. Because of
Rabbi Kronish's illness, the
Golda Meir Leadership
Award Dinner in his honor
has been postponed to a
later date.
Emphasizing the im-
portance of Bond pro-
ceeds for Israel, Herme-
lin stated that the Bond
Organization has as-

sumed responsibility in
1984 for a much larger
share of Israel's de-
velopment budget.

"We have accepted this
new challenge because of Is-
rael's current economic
problems," he stated. "The
Israel government has im-
posed austerity measures,
including heavy cuts in its
budget, new taxes and fewer
food subsidies in order to
combat inflation and to help
turn the economy around.
The Bond Organization
hopes to provide Israel with
more funds in 1984 to make
sure that major develop-
ment projects can go for-
ward without interruption."
