THE DETROIT JEWISH NEWS

According to legend, the
melave malka meal at the
conclusion of the Sabbath
stems from King David. God

told David that he would die
on a Saturday. Thereafter,
at the conclusion of each
Sabbath he ate a festive

meal to celebrate his survi-
val and the nation rejoiced
with him.
