fast 10:30 a.m. Sunday at
the Vineyards in South-
field, to hear B.Z. Sobel,
dean of the Faculty of Social
Sciences at the University
of Haifa. Campaign con-
tributors of $250 and over
have been invited.

MISS GOLDSTICK

Mrs. Myer Goldstick of
Oak Park announces the
engagement of her daugh-
ter, Elyse Allison, to David
Michael Tugender, son of
Mr. and Mrs. Paul Tugen-
der, also of Oak Park.
Miss Goldstick, daughter
of the late Mr. Myer
Goldstick, earned a BS de-
gree in special education at
Wayne State University
and is pursuing studies
toward a nursing degree.
Her fiance earned a BS
degree in advertising / pub-
lic relations at WSU.
An April wedding is
planned.

Birmingham home of Dr.
Deedie Holtzman. Dinner

Author, foreign corre-
spondent and authority on
the Middle East, Dr. Gruber
has been an eye-witness to
the building of Israel, from
the days of the illegal im-
migrants through four wars
to the present.
Her latest book, 'Haven:
The Unknown Story of
1,000 World War II Refu-
gees," is the true story of the
only World War II refugees
saved by the U.S. govern-
ment. Dr. Gruber was sent
by President Roosevelt and
Secretary of the Interior
Harold I. Ickes to Italy in
the midst of the war to ac-
company the refugees on
an army troop ship to a
safe haven in Oswego, N.Y.
Her previous book,
"Raquela: A Woman of
Israel," won the National
Jewish Book Award as

Nursery Has Openings

A few openings are still
available at the United He-
brew Schools nursery
school. A new parent/
toddler group will begin on
Tuesday.
The nursery school offers
an ongoing enrichment pro-
gram in art, music, creative
movement, science, cook-
ing, reading readiness, He-
brew language, "the world
around us," field trips, and
Jewish holiday celebra-
tions. Super Sunday family
activities are also part of the
program.
The nursery school is
under the direction of Anita
Jacobs, Marlene Galperin,
Sylvia Handler and Reva
Klaymer.
There are morning and
afternoon groups, meet-
ing two, three and five
days. The nursery school
offers a breakfast hour
for "early birds" and a

Michigan, Jewish War Vet-
erans, is making available
three annual Michigan col-
lege sch-olarships in the
amount of $300 each.
There are no restrictions
as to race, color, religion,
sex or creed. Any veteran of
the American Armed
Forces, his or her son or
daughter, or grandchild is
eligible. Need for financial
assistance should be
paramount.
Applicants may include
students attending accre-
dited institutions of higher
learning on a college level
as well as members of the
January or June 1984 high
school graduating class.
